Summary:
ICU and National have together produced an evaluation and reference design for the COP8ACC microcontroller with a 16 bit high resolution A/D converter. Your A/D Converter has I/Os, Microwire serial interface, timers, interrupt capability, watch-dog, etc.. and everything is programmable.
The purpose with this kit is to give you some application ideas, and some common software examples which will get you started quickly, and reduce your design cycle.
Description:
This kit consists of a printed circuit board (PCB) with a pre-programmed COP8ACC, sensors and RS-232 interface for communication with Windows based software. In the package we have enclosed the necessary documentation such as schematics, bill of materials, flow charts and assembler code.
The COP8ACC reference design board has two external inputs to the A/D-converter: one current (4-20mA) and one voltage (0-10V). There are three internal inputs: one temperature input, one humidity sensor input (not mounted), and one photo diode input (not mounted). These signals are converted with up to 16-bit resolution and can be calibrated and controlled from the PC-software under the button 'Demo'.
All component placements on the board are made to optimize the functionality of the AD converter., plus two separate ground planes linked together below the COP8ACC. With this design the board has a separate ground plane for digital and analog components. This gives a higher accuracy on the AD-converter.
