Video Description

National's Alex Tan discusses:

  • Synchronization challenges in wireless infrastructure backhaul networks
  • IEEE 1588 Precision Timing Protocol (PTP) overview
  • How to implement IEEE 1588 in your designs using the DP83640

Ethernet backhaul is a fast emerging trend in wireless telecommunication network designs. One of the biggest challenges to this adoption is the need for new synchronization techniques that can be used with a packet based network. This presentation describes a high precision approach to timing synchronization using the IEEE 1588 Precision Timing Protocol (PTP) standard and the DP83640 Precision PHYTER IEEE 1588 PTP Synchronization PHY.
