  • Description

    The LM49352 is a high performance mixed signal audio subsystem. The LM49352 includes a high quality stereo DAC, a high quality stereo ADC, a stereo headphone amplifier, which supports True Ground operation, a low EMI Class D loudspeaker amplifier, and an earpiece speaker amplifier. It combines advanced audio processing, conversion, mixing, and amplification in the smallest possible footprint while extending the battery life of feature rich portable devices.

    The LM49352 features dual bi-directional I 2S or PCM audio interfaces and an I 2C compatible interface for control. The stereo DAC path features an SNR of 103dB with 24-bit 48 kHz input. The headphone amplifier delivers 65mWRMS (typ) to a 32Ω single-ended stereo load with less than 1% distortion (THD+N) when HP_VDD = 2.8V. The loudspeaker amplifier delivers up to 970mW into an 8Ω load with less than 1% distortion when LS_VDD = 4.2V.

    The LM49352 employs advanced techniques to extend battery life, to reduce controller overhead, to speed development time, and to eliminate click and pop artifacts. Boomer audio power amplifiers are designed specifically for mobile devices and require minimal PCB area and external components.

    General Description:

    The LM49352 is a high performance audio codec subsystem featuring 24-bit stereo DAC and ADC, filterless stereo Class D speaker amplifier, earpiece driver or auxiliary (line out) output and ground referenced, low noise headphone amplifiers. 2 digital ports support either I2S or PCM and multiple analog inputs provide additional flexibility. This easy to use, fully featured audio codec subsystem is available in National's robust micro SMDxt package. The LM49352 also features RF suppression circuitry and National's digital 3D enhancement. The LM49352 is designed to meet the demands of portable consumer devices. It is capable of delivering 590mW of average power into an 8 ohm load and 65 milliwatts of average power to a 32 ohm load with less than 1% distortion (THD+N) when LSVDD is supplied with 3.3V DC. LSVDD can be supplied directly by the battery (the device supports up to 5.5V operating voltage) for higher output power.

    The LM49352RLEVAL is an evaluation board designed to ease evaluation and effort during the development of a circuit using the LM49352RL. The evaluation board comes with a USB motherboard and cable. Software is easy to develop with the purpose-built GUI supplied with the board.

    The LM49352RLEVAL is an easy-to-use stand-alone board that requires power and GND, an I2C control signal, an input signal and an output load. Software for the product can be downloaded from http://audio.national.com
