Court Grants National Semiconductor New Trial in ZF Micro Solutions Case

National Prevails in Post Trial Motions, Judge Dismisses Initial Judgment

August 20, 2004 - The Santa Clara County Superior Court has granted National Semiconductor Corporation's (NYSE:NSM) motion for a new trial in the matter of ZF Micro Solutions, Inc. v. National Semiconductor Corporation and the related cross action.

ZF Micro Solutions (ZF) brought legal action against National, and a month-long jury trial ensued in May-June 2004.  The jury verdict against National of $29.95 million was vacated as part of the new trial order.  National did not believe the judgment against it was supported by the evidence, so National is pleased that the court has granted its motion for a new trial.

National disputes all claims filed against it by ZF and intends to vigorously defend itself in its new trial.
