National Semiconductor Completes Sale of Business Unit to AMD

August 25, 2003 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) announced today that it has finalized the sale of its Information Appliance (IA) business unit to Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD).  The two companies previously announced the transaction on Aug. 6, 2003

Pursuant to the sale, AMD acquired certain intellectual property and assets of the IA business unit and hired 125 former National employees.  Additional details will be available on Sept. 4, when National announces financial results for the first quarter of its 2004 fiscal year.  The first quarter ended Aug. 24.
