October 14, 2002 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) today announced that its Bluetooth™ wireless technology, which enables users to print high-quality images wirelessly from Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices such as notebook computers, PDAs, digital cameras and mobile phones, is available for use with the new HP Deskjet 450 mobile printer. The Compact Flash card, the Anycom Bluetooth CF-2001 Printer Card, is available through Anycom, a worldwide leader in the distribution of Bluetooth products.
“Bluetooth wireless technology is ideal for applications such as the HP Deskjet 450 mobile printer,” said Malcolm Humphrey, director of National’s Bluetooth and cellular product lines. “With National’s Bluetooth technology, a user can print wirelessly through solid objects up to 30 feet apart, eliminating the need for extra cables and simplifying work on the go.”
“Mobile professionals need to access and print data from their notebooks, PDAs and mobile phones while they are on the road. With HP’s portable, reliable Deskjet 450 printer, users can print documents and high-resolution photos while they are travelling or away from a physical office,” said Rich Phelan, worldwide marketing manager, HP Imaging and Printing Group. “National Semiconductor’s Bluetooth technology allows users to transmit fast, secure signals from mobile devices to the HP Deskjet 450 printer for wireless, hassle-free printing.”
The Bluetooth CF-2001 Printer Card is available from Anycom as an accessory for the Deskjet 450 Mobile Printer and is the Bluetooth adapter recommended by HP for use with the printer. The card, which plugs into the printer’s Compact Flash slot and is available starting at $99, features an LED that blinks when the printer has established a connection with another Bluetooth-enabled device. With the Compact Flash card, users can print documents from a compatible personal digital assistant, print information downloaded from the Internet from select Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, or print from a Bluetooth-enabled notebook or desktop computer.
