March 29, 2002 - National Semiconductor (NYSE:NSM) today announced that it has granted a royalty-bearing license to Semiconductor Components Industries, LLC, the primary domestic operating subsidiary of ON Semiconductor Corporation, (Nasdaq: ONNN) under National's U.S. Patent number 4,847,549. This patent has been implemented in National's LM2574, LM2575, LM2576 and LM2577 SIMPLE SWITCHER? family and other DC-to-DC converter products presently in production at National and ON Semiconductor. National Semiconductor continues to extend its technology leadership in power management devices by granting this stepped royalty license for its technologies to ON Semiconductor.
The LM2574, LM2575, LM2576 and LM2577 SIMPLE SWITCHER family of products was National's market entrance point for DC-to-DC converter products. This license reaffirms National's prowess in this challenging power arena, and National is pleased to grant ON Semiconductor a license for its use with their products.
