October 8, 2001 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) has named former Cisco Systems executive Mike Noonen, 38, as Vice President of its Wired Communications division, which markets high-performance silicon solutions for computer networking and other communication interface applications.
"Mike's depth of experience in capturing new market opportunities makes him a highly valuable addition to our management team," said Donald Macleod, National's chief operating officer. "In his new role he will lead our efforts in the copper networking, optical and communication interface markets," Macleod said.
Noonen most recently served as Director of New Markets and Technologies for the Commercial Line of business at Cisco. Prior to joining Cisco, Noonen held executive sales and general management positions at SkyTune, Inc. and 8x8, Inc. He began his career in the semiconductor industry as a field applications engineer for NCR Microelectronics, after receiving a BSEE from Colorado State University. He holds three patents in the areas of IP telephony and Internet appliances.
