April 26, 2001 - National Semiconductor (NYSE:NSM) CEO Brian L. Halla will present the opening day keynote address at the Cahners In-Stat Forum 2001 conference on Monday April 30 at 8:30 A.M. at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Hotel. After the keynote, Halla will hold a media availability at 9:30 at the Hilton Conference Center.
As the world's digital communications infrastructure continues to build out at a frenetic pace, the technology industry is shifting from a focus on computing to a broader array of networks, services and devices that allow access to data, voice, and video. Addressing the conference theme, "Access to Intelligence," Halla's keynote will focus on the economic and technological issues that impact the global semiconductor, consumer and communications markets.
Halla's most recent keynote speech took place on April 3 at Comdex Chicago. In a speech titled, "The Bust that Went Boom," he addressed the industry's current economic outlook and his vision for expanding the global role of technology.
In addition to serving as CEO, Halla is Chairman of the Board and President of National Semiconductor. Since joining National in May 1996, Halla has turned National into a leading developer of products and technologies for Information Appliances-low-cost-easy-to-use devices for Internet access. He has also strengthened National's longstanding leadership in analog and mixed-signal technologies. Halla joined National from LSI Logic Corporation, where he had served as executive vice president of the Product Group. Prior to LSI, Halla was director of marketing for the Microcomputer Group at Intel. Earlier, he held a variety of management positions at Intel and Control Data Corporation. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Nebraska.
