September 28, 2000 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) has appointed J?rgen Heldt, 51, to President and General Manager, National Semiconductor Japan, based at the company's regional headquarters in Tokyo. Heldt will work in close co-operation with the current President and General Manager of National Semiconductor Japan, Tatsuo Ishihara until January 2001, when he will assume this role completely. Heldt is moving into this new position from his current post as Marketing Director for Europe, which he has held since June 1997.
"J?rgen brings extensive experience to this position," said Roland Andersson, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Worldwide Marketing and Sales, National Semiconductor.
"In addition to his extensive engineering background he has an excellent understanding of businesses across many cultures, insight gained during his 14 years with National and former assignments. With J?rgen's knowledge and experience we will continue to successfully expand our business in Japan."
Heldt joined National Semiconductor in 1986 and has held a number of technical, sales and marketing management positions. Before that, he worked in the microprocessor and telecommunications market for more than 10 years, including a position in Hong Kong as founding partner and managing director of a telecommunications and traffic automation consultancy.
J?rgen Heldt holds an Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree from the Technical University of Aachen, Germany.
