NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR INTRODUCES INDUSTRY'S FIRST CMOS SERIES VOLTAGE REFERENCE WITH 0.05% ACCURACY AND 10PPM/?C TEMPCO IN A SOT-23
LM4130, LM4120 and LM4050/51 Families of Precision References Offer a Range of Voltage, Accuracy and Temperature Coefficient for Battery-Operated and Industrial Applications
November 29, 1999 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) today announced that it is expanding its popular voltage reference product offerings with the introduction of three product families of high-precision series and shunt references that offer higher accuracy and low temperature coefficient levels. The LM4130, LM4120 and LM4050, LM4051 offer a wide range of voltage and precision options for easy integration into battery-operated and industrial applications. The LM4130 is the industry's first high precision CMOS series voltage reference with 0.05% accuracy and a very low temperature coefficient of 10ppm/?C in the miniature SOT-23 package.
"With the LM4130, LM4120 and LM4050, LM4051, we offer a complete range of affordable high precision series and shunt references with equal or better performance than our competitors, but in a smaller SOT-23 package. Indeed, our closest competitor offers 10ppm/?C references in the much bigger SO-8 package," said Nicolas Cuendet, marketing manager for National's Power Management Group. "With the highest grade LM4130A, we are exploiting our new CMOS process technology to break through the high precision reference market with a best-of-class reference. Moreover, we will offer these products at an appreciably lower price than similar competitive products."
LM4130, LM4120 and LM4051 Product Offerings
The features of the LM4130, LM4120 and LM4050, LM4051 are summarized in the table below. The LM4130, available in five grades and three voltage options for greater flexibility, has a low supply current of just 75mA and is the world's first 10ppm/?C reference in a SOT-23 package. The LM4120, available in two grades and seven voltage options, features a low reference noise of just 24mVpp, as well as a unique powerdown feature, or sleep mode, that allows the user to shut the part off when it is not operating in order to save battery life. The LM4050/51, a shunt reference, offers a low current of 60mA, a tempco of 50ppm/?C and come in three grades and seven voltage options between 1.2V and 10V.
