NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR WINS "1999 CIO WEB BUSINESS 50/50" AWARD FOR ONLINE BUSINESS EXCELLENCE
Award Marks Third Recognition for National's Web Site
July 7, 1999 -- National Semiconductor Corp.® today announced it received the 1999 "CIO Web Business 50/50" Award for online business excellence in the Intranet/Extranet category. Every year, CIO magazine recognizes 50 Internet and 50 Intranet/Extranet sites that go beyond customary Web commerce practices to deliver outstanding business value.
National also recently received the 1998 Business on the Internet (BOTI) award for best extranet application and the 1998 Outstanding Web Site Web Award in the interactive services category.
A panel of CIO magazine editors, writers, art designers and Web development experts judged hundreds of nominated sites for their ability to use innovative Web techniques that successfully integrate creative design and high-quality technical attributes to deliver greater business value for overall business objectives.
CIO honors the 100 sites that have raised the caliber of online quality and challenged other organizations to uncover the potential of the Net. "This year's winners show that more and more operational capability, direct customer contact and bottom-line business value is migrating to the Web. It's impossible to ignore the depth of the transformation that's occurring in enterprises of every shape and size," says CIO editorial director Lew McCreary.
"The CIO Web Business 50/50 Award recognizes National's use of cutting-edge technology to create an industry-leading Web site for design engineers and purchasing managers," said Phil Gibson, director of interactive marketing at National Semiconductor. "This award is another indicator that we are delivering on our promise to help our customers save their most precious resource -- time."
