NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR AND WYSE TECHNOLOGY TEAM FOR NEW THIN-CLIENT SOLUTION

National's Integrated Technology Enables Wyse's? Winterm 3350SE Windows?CE-Based Terminal

March 1, 1999 -- Cyrix, a National Semiconductor Corp.? (NYSE:NSM) company, today announced that Wyse Technology? is offering the Winterm 3350SE Windows? CE-based terminal, based on Cyrix's integrated MediaGX? processor. Wyse's latest thin-client is the first MediaGX? processor-based Windows-based terminal to be offered in Wyse's Winterm 3000 product line. In addition to the MediaGX? processor, other National chips integrated into the Winterm 3350SE include National Super I/O?, audio codec and several power devices.

National Semiconductor and Wyse, the leader in thin-client computing, entered into an agreement in June 1998 with the mission of delivering high-performance, low-cost thin-client solutions as the companies work toward the development of the "terminal-on-a-chip." The Winterm 3350SE device is the first product to come out of this joint venture. Enabled by a highly integrated processor, peripheral and analog chip from National, the Winterm 3350SE thin client is carving the path for the future developments in the thin-client market. Wyse's corporate Windows?-based terminals continue to simplify desktop management, reduce total-cost-of-ownership and eliminate Y2K concerns.

"Just as it did in the sub-$1000 consumer PC market, the MediaGX? processor is enabling low-cost, high performance solutions for the corporate environment with Wyse's Winterm 3350SE Windows CE-based terminal," said Dave Matteucci, product marketing director for the MediaGX? processor at National Semiconductor. "Joining forces with Wyse confirms National's position as the leading provider of integrated silicon solutions for the emerging information appliance market."

The MediaGX? processor's integration, with on-chip graphics, audio, memory control and PCI interface, creates powerful, easy-to-use multimedia technology that is ideal for the thin-client environment. The MediaGX? has become the processor of choice in Windows-based terminals, a fast growing market segment for corporations.

The Winterm 3350SE thin client, the highest performance thin-client solution available from Wyse, delivers multimedia-ready performance to support advanced technologies such as video-on-demand. Like all Winterm 3000 series terminals, the Winterm 3350SE is capable of connecting to Microsoft Windows NT? Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, Citrix WinFrame? and, in the future, Microsoft Windows 2000.

"Wyse has recognized a growing desire among our extensive customer base to support multimedia performance for applications such as computer-based training, and the MediaGX processor from National is an ideal solution for delivering this functionality to the thin-client market," said Jeff McNaught, senior director and general manager at Wyse Technology. "By committing to both the development and implementation of thin-client technology, National represents an ideal partner for the development of complete thin-client solutions for the corporate world."
