National Semiconductor Appoints Cyrix General Manager

January 20, 1999 - National Semiconductor Corporation? (NYSE:NSM) today named Jean-Louis Bories, 44, as executive vice president and general manager of its Cyrix subsidiary. Bories has been senior vice president of the company's Core Technology Group since 1997. He was previously an executive at LSI Logic Corporation.

The company also announced the formation of an Information Appliance group to further its strategy of developing system-on-a-chip solutions for the emerging information access market. The group will headed by Michael Polacek, who was named vice president, reporting to Bories.

In addition, the company named Senior Vice President Kevin McDonough as it second National Fellow. McDonough will focus on the company's architectural roadmap as well as provide executive interface with strategic partners. The Fellow Program honors the company's senior technical contributors.
