National Semiconductor to Highlight New High-performance Analog Technologies at electronica 2006

• “Knowledge is Power” - industry experts join National Semiconductor to conduct daily educational power management design seminars
• “SignalPATH TO SUCCESS” area showcases complete solutions for designers of test and measurement, industrial, automotive, medical, communications and consumer systems

November 1 , 2006 – National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: NSM) will showcase its latest high-performance analog solutions for a variety of applications at electronica 2006 in Munich, Germany, from November 14 -17. The company’s program in booth #506, Hall A4 includes new product announcements as well as daily educational seminars for power management design engineers.

Under the theme “SignalPATH TO SUCCESS,” 14 tables focused on test and measurement, medical, industrial control, automotive, professional video, communications and consumer applications will illustrate how National’s innovative portfolio of power management, data conversion, interface, amplifier and audio integrated circuits can solve tough design problems throughout the analog signal path.

National’s Spotlight Products
Among the demonstrations to be showcased at National's booth are an ultra-high-speed system for test and measurement, precision control for motor drives, the high-quality sound of National’s audio amplifiers in advanced portable applications, a complete high-definition/standard-definition (HD/SD) signal path for both analog and digital video content, the world’s first CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) SerDes linking between a 3G basestation and antenna/radio, and a new industrial connectivity reference design.

For automotive, National will demonstrate new high-brightness LED drivers, a driver assistance camera featuring National’s serializer/deserializer (SerDes), an infotainment LCD display and a hands free car kit.

National’s Featured Speakers Show Knowledge is Power
National Semiconductor, a market leader in power management, will present three daily 15-minute educational seminars, dedicated to power management design engineers. These interactive seminars will be conducted by Professor Nicola Femia from the University of Salerno, Italy, and National’s power management experts. The topics include:

November 14 and 16:
- Fundamentals of loop compensation design (11 a.m.)
- The influence of non-ideal error amplifiers on loop compensation (2 p.m.)
- Loop gain measurement techniques (4 p.m.)

November 15 and 17:
- Buck converter design: Using different output capacitors in parallel (11 a.m.)
- Input filter design for switching regulators (2 p.m.)
- Trans-conductance versus voltage feedback error amplifiers (4 p.m.)
