National Semiconductor Employees Donate $436,000 to Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort

September 21, 2005 - Employees from National Semiconductor Corporation have donated $436,000 to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi and other Gulf Coast states.  The total includes matching grants from National’s charitable foundation and $110,000 donated anonymously by a single National employee.

National’s employees donated money to numerous non-profit agencies assisting the relief effort including the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity.  These cash donations augmented other grassroots initiatives under way at several of National’s sites including drives for toiletries, sundries and books that will be sent to charitable organizations offering assistance to individuals and families affected by Hurricane Katrina.

“It’s next to impossible for most of us to comprehend what these families must be going through as people in the Gulf Coast region begin to rebuild their lives and communities,” said Brian L. Halla, National’s chairman and CEO.  “I am grateful to our employees for their thoughtfulness and generosity.”
