National Semiconductor Distributes More Than $1.35 Million to Charities and Schools Through Giving Program

June 16, 2005 – Through its giving program, National Semiconductor employees have helped 922 schools and charitable organizations by providing donations totaling more than $900,000.  When donations raised for the Asia Tsunami Relief Fund are added, the total exceeds $1.35 million.

“These outstanding results demonstrate National employees' tremendous spirit of giving," said Joan Scott, director of community relations at National Semiconductor.  “We are grateful to all of our employees for their continued support and generosity.”

National established its giving program in 2000 to encourage employees to make donations of cash or stock to schools and non-profit organizations.  National’s charitable foundation matches employee donations, and this year’s total of $919,000 represents a six-percent increase over last year and includes the foundation’s contribution.  Since 2002, the amount of money raised through the giving program by National employees has increased 19 percent.
