JANUARY 25, 2005 - Employees from National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM), with a matching grant from National’s non-profit Foundation, have donated $432,000 to aid victims of the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia last month. Employees from virtually every National plant, office and design center around the world have contributed $216,000 so far, and the Foundation has matched employee donations dollar for dollar for a total of $432,000.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and communities that are impacted by this disaster,” said Brian L. Halla, National’s chairman, president and CEO. “I am extremely proud that our employees have contributed to this life-saving effort. But just as importantly, I would encourage companies that have not already done so to donate whatever they can to help our neighbors in Asia rebuild their lives and communities. This is a global disaster that will require a global response for a long time to come.”
Approximately half of National’s 8,500 global workforce and many of its facilities are located in the Asia Pacific region. The company operates test and assembly facilities in Melaka, Malaysia, Toa Payoh, Singapore, Suzhou, China, and a Global Distribution Center in Singapore.
