The new device is offered as an alternative to commodity linear regulators, such as the popular LM78LXX. Maximum dropout of the LM3480 is 1.2V, only half that of the LM78LXX, making it the most cost-effective solution for 5V to 3.3V conversion. This low dropout rating is guaranteed at the full 100mA load over the entire operating temperature range. The new IC also features operation from a source as high as 30V with improved line and load regulation. It is housed in a miniature 3-lead SuperSOTä package. |
