National Semiconductor Corporation today announced the appointment of
Ulrich Seif as vice president of Information Services and chief information officer
June 9, 1997--National
Semiconductor Corporation today announced the appointment of Ulrich
Seif as vice president of Information Services and chief information
officer.
Seif's role will be to further the use of Information Technology,
with particular focus on how Information Technology can help National
progress towards its three strategic imperatives of state-of-the-art
process technology, six-month time-to-market methodology and world
class manufacturing. Seif will be reporting to Donald Macleod,
executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Most recently Seif was vice president of Information Technology
and chief information officer at Cirrus Logic, where he developed and
executed Information Technology strategic plans to support business
needs.
Seif began his career with National in Germany in January 1980.
For five years, he was in charge of sales and marketing systems. He
was also responsible for the consolidation of multiple business
entities into one with headquarters in Swindon, United Kingdom. In
1985, Seif relocated to National in Santa Clara, Calif. where he was
responsible for the development of National's order processing system
and production planning system. Seif then served as director of
Business Planning for analog and mixed signal from 1995 to 1996
before going to Cirrus Logic.
Seif said his decision to return to National was based on the
employee talent base and CEO Brian Halla. ``Brian Halla is strongly
focused, he will make National a great success, and I want to be part
of that success,'' Seif said.
A native of Germany, Seif graduated from Johannes Gutenburg
University with degrees in mathematics and business management.
National Semiconductor Corporation, a Fortune 500 Company,
produces system-on-a-chip solutions for the information highway,
based on its leadership in analog and mixed signal technologies.
National is headquartered in Santa Clara, California and focuses on
the communications, personal systems and consumer markets. In March
1997 National sold its Fairchild Semiconductor businesses and now has
12,300 employees worldwide with annual sales of approximately $2.0
billion. Additional company and product information is available on
