NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR'S NEWEST OP AMP FEATURES RAIL-TO-RAIL OPERATION, 4MHZ GBW (GAIN BANDWIDTH) AND 1.8V TO 32V VOLTAGE RANGE, THE WIDEST AVAILABLE IN A TINYPAK PACKAGE
September 27, 1996 - Adding to its comprehensive family of high-performance, low-power rail-to-rail op amps, National Semiconductor Corporation® today introduced a single-supply op amp for space-constrained applications. The new device combines rail-to-rail I/O with the widest operating voltage range - 1.8V to 32V - currently available in a grain-sized SOT 23-5 TinyPak package. In addition, with 4MHz gain bandwidth, low distortion and high output drive, the LM7301 is ideal for a broad range of both low-power and industrial applications.
"With an optimized drive capability of 9.8mA at 5V, the 4MHz LM7301 packs a lot of punch in a small package," said Mark Downing, National's marketing director/amplifiers. "And with its wide single-supply operating voltage range, the LM7301 is ideal for mixed-voltage and low-voltage portable applications, further advancing National's leadership family of high-performance, low-voltage and low-power op amps," he added.
Thanks to the combination of output short circuit current of 9.8mA, THD (total harmonic distortion) of 0.006% and 4MHz GBW, the device drives heavy loads with low distortion, making it well suited for stand-alone or integrated modems.
For portable bar code scanners requiring high gain with reasonable bandwidth at
lower power, the device offers its 4MHz GBW, low 0.72mA supply current and operating voltages as low as 1.8V. Conversely, its operation up to 32V also serves well the high-voltage requirements of industrial power supplies.
The LM7301 can be driven by voltages in excess of both power supply rails, eliminating concerns over exceeding the common mode voltage range. Other features include a high capacitive load drive of 1,000pF, high PSRR (power supply rejection ratio) of 104dB, high CMRR (common mode rejection ratio) of 93dB and excellent gain of 97dB. The device operates over the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C.
Price and Availability
Available now, the LM7301 is priced at $0.78 each (1000-unit quantities) in the plastic five-lead SOT-23 TinyPak or 8-lead SOT-8 package.
