NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR APPOINTS VISVAMOHAN YEGNASHANKARAN AS V.P. OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

July 8, 1996 ­ National Semiconductor today announced the appointment of Visvamohan Yegnashankaran as vice president of product development. He reports to Gobi Padmanabhan, senior vice president of technology research and development.

In his new position, Yegnashankaran will be responsible for refining the processes by which National manufactures its semiconductors.

"I am happy to be part of this successful team at National," said Yegnashankaran. "I look forward to bringing Nationalšs leading edge technology to market in the shortest possible time."

Yegnashankaran comes to National with more than 25 years of engineering and management experience in the semiconductor industry. He worked at Fairchild Semiconductor, Advanced Micro Devices and most recently LSI Logic, where he was director of product engineering, before joining National.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Bombay University, India.
