With a forty-strong multilingual force of customer support administrators and leading-edge
communications technologies, the CSC will serve over 200 customer and distributor
accounts of National Semiconductor from China, Taiwan, Korea, India, Hong Kong,
Thailand, and Philippines, as well as from Singapore.
Officiating at the opening celebrations today are Bg Lee Hsien Yang, President and Chief
Executive Officer of Singapore Telecom, Mr. Patrick Brockett, President, International
Business Group and Mr. Michael Burger, Vice-President and Managing Director,
International Business Group, Southeast Asia Division, both of National Semiconductor

"This new facility responds to today's borderless world of business, where customers'
manufacturing activities are not confined by geography. National Semiconductor
recognizes the needs of our customers for instantaneous global support," says Mr.
Brockett.
The customer support facility in Singapore complements National's other multilingual
customer support centers in Munich, Germany and Arlington, Texas to provide responsive
and one-stop solutions to customers around the globe.
The CSC is distinguished by its state-of-the-art communications technologies for customer
tracking, problem diagnosis and information sharing, which will give customer support
administrators in the center ready access to information and greater decision-making
capability. The application of these sophisticated systems is made possible by the dedicated
lease line facility for each customer account provided by Singapore Telecom.
The new US$3 million facility is located in National Semiconductor's Singapore
manufacturing plant in Toa Payoh. "In selecting the location for the Customer Support
Center, Singapore was chosen because of its world-class telecommunications
infrastructure, coupled with the advantage of having a National-owned facility in the
country," comments Mr. Burger.
