National Semiconductor Press Release

WORLD'S FIRST 1.8V RAIL-TO-RAIL OP-AMP WITH SHUTDOWN MODE

  • Guaranteed 1.8, 2.2, 3, 5 and 10V Operation
  • Rail-to-Rail Input and Output Performance
  • Shutdown Mode Draws 1.5microA
  • 80fA Input Bias Current
  • 120dB Voltage Gain
Santa Clara, Calif., July 14, 1995 -- National Semiconductor today expanded its family of low voltage, high performance rail-to-rail input/output op-amps with five new offerings, the LMC6582 (dual), the LMC6584 (quad), LMC6681 (single), LMC6682 (dual) and LMC6684 (quad). These five op-amps, developed as key technologies that shape information, feature ultra low input bias current (80fA) and low offset voltage (1.0mV, max. for A-Grade version, 3.0mV, max. for B-Grade version) for increased 3V precision, and 120dB voltage gain. In addition, the LMC6681, LMC6682 and LMC6684 are available with a power-saving shutdown feature.

In shutdown mode, these devices draw only 1.5microA supply current. This combination of features makes these op-amps ideal for signal conditioning applications in the mobile communications, laptop PC, PDA, portable instrumentation and handheld medical instrumentation markets.

All five of National's new op-amps are guaranteed to perform to specification at 1.8, 2.2, 3, 5 and 10V, with either 1 or 3mV offset voltage. The true rail-to-rail input range exceeds both rails, maximizing signal-to-noise ratio, while the rail-to-rail output maximizes dynamic signal range for analog-to-digital converter interfaces. All five devices are guaranteed over the -40ºC to +85ºC industrial temperature range. These products are also available in both an A-Grade version, for maximum performance, and a B-Grade version.
