Video Descriptions

The monolithic Current Feedback Op Amp is 15 years old, yet its operation remains much less broadly understood than that for its voltage feedback counterpart. Current Feedback Op Amps provide significant performance advantages in areas such as available high frequency gain for large signals. They post performance disadvantages in other areas such as DC errors. Both the advantages and disadvantages are linked to the underlying circuit architecture. Understanding the architecture within allows the designer to better utilize current feedback capabilities as well as to avoid the pitfalls when optimizing system performance.

This seminar will explain the difference between Voltage Feedback and Current Feedback amplifier architectures. It will address the question, 'Which amplifier type is best for my application?' Current Feedback and Voltage Feedback will be compared and contrasted for familiar amplifier metrics such as: bandwidth, slew rate, dc errors and noise.

After this seminar, the attendee will be able to confidently choose between Current Feedback and Voltage Feedback for his/her application.

Topics covered in this online seminar include:

  • Amplifier Circuit Architectures
  • Loop Gain Analysis
  • Amplifier Specifications
  • Common mistakes when using high-speed amps
  • Required Bandwidth
  • Large Signal Response
  • Sources of Noise and DC Errors
  • Current Feedback Amplifiers at National
