Purpose

Texas Instruments provides device analysis service, also referred to as "PQA", for its direct account customers. Indirect customers, who do not have a direct National account number, should first involve their distributor to resolve problems.

The purpose of any device analysis is primarily to identify areas for improvement to the overall quality and reliability of Texas Instruments and it's Customer's products and/or manufacturing processes. The depth of any device analysis is at Texas Instruments's discretion and may for example be limited by one or more of the following: requested failure information is not provided by the customer, business conditions, systemic fault in customer's manufacturing and/or application which has not been addressed, or if an analysis will not result in any improvement by the customer or Texas Instruments.

Procedure

In order to perform a comprehensive analysis in a timely manner, the information as specified in this PQA Request Form (MS Word 187KB) is required. The failure mode in the application is not always the same for a stand-alone device, therefore National may need additional information in order to duplicate the failure on a stand-alone device.

Texas Instruments uses this information to:

  • duplicate the reported failure
  • identify the root cause
  • identify appropriate corrective actions
    • When submitting devices for investigation the customer is asked to
      Email an electronic copy of the PQA Request Form (MS Word 187KB) to your Texas Instruments sales contact.
    • Mail the failing device(s) including a printed copy of the PQA Request Form (MS Word 187KB) to your Texas Instruments sales contact or to the mailing address of your regional Business Center as specified below.

Cost

Texas Instruments provides device analysis service free of charge as long as the devices are purchased through a Texas Instruments authorized sales channel. The cost of customer-initiated quality investigation will be borne by customers if the products are found to be purchased from unauthorized sales channels.
