Camera systems are an increasingly important safety component. Multiple cameras and advanced image analysis help drivers monitor road conditions, detect hazards, and avoid collisions. Such systems require robust, uncompressed digital video links to deliver high-resolution data and enable signal processing. National Semiconductor's new FPD-Link III embedded clock SerDes with ultra-low EMI signaling integrate data, clock, and real-time control over a single twisted wire pair.
Introducing FPD-Link III: National's FPD-Link III family of embedded clock LVDS serializers and deserializers add real-time support for an integrated control channel to the high-speed data transport of high resolution video from the camera module to the electronic control unit (ECU) in driver assist applications. An integrated control channel eliminates the expense and weight of additional cabling and the cost of automotive control connectors such as CAN, LIN, or I2C between system components. Real-time control on the same pair of wires is ideal for multi-camera systems that need synchronization between multiple cameras.
FPD-Link II: National's FPD-Link II family of embedded clock LVDS serializers and deserializers provide high-speed data transport of video signals for driver assist applications. The serializers and deserializers do not require software drivers, reducing the complexity and software validation time for these complicated systems.
