| High-definition video with its high-bandwidth requirements has historically suffered from limited cable reach from source to display. This presents a problem for DVI and HDMI cable applications such as home theater, mounted projectors, HD storefront displays, and remote LCD monitors that are not within 5 meters of the video source. In addition, display resolutions, refresh rates, and color depths continue to increase and so do the required data rates. Unfortunately, the cables that facilitate this high-bandwidth data transfer cause signal degradation in the form of attenuation, jitter, skew, and crosstalk, which creates screen flicker, noise sparkles, and audio distortion that limit the reach between source and display. National's HDMI and DVI product portfolio compensate for signal degradation with technologies including receiver equalization for signal boosting and reduction of inter-symbol interference, re-clocking with advanced clock and data recovery circuitry for jitter cleaning, and output de-emphasis for transmit conditioning. These technologies enable data transport across the longer cable lengths and offer the flexibility to use CAT or HDMI cable. Watch the video to learn more. |
