UK Design Centre
The facility also has a Design Centre with groups involved in the design of state of the art products for the audio, data conversion and mobile power markets. Approximately, 37 employees are involved in product definition, analog and mixed signal design, applications and product engineering of products in National's leading edge processes. A CAD group provide support on advanced design tools for this and other European design locations.
Site
The site currently has a 400-strong workforce. The plant stands on 21.65 acres and is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The wafer fabrication area, which can produce in excess of 250,000 150 mm silicon wafers per year, is a world class facility, delivering high yield, short cycle time and low cost with a portfolio of more than 1,500 analog products. The bulk of the site workforce are employed in production, maintenance, and manufacturing.
Products
Products manufactured at Greenock are mainly analog products and include regulators (LDO and switching), audio amplifiers, comparators, power management integrated circuits, LED drivers, gate drivers, automotive products and display drivers. Key applications are in consumer goods (e.g. PCs, mobile phones and games consoles) and industrial and automotive applications.
National aims to offer the highest performance-to-power ratio, energy efficient products in the industry and have a number of products available to customers within our Powerwise® portfolio. National follows a strict criteria for power and performance and this is benchmarked against the industry.
Processes
The Process Development group focuses on developing new analog processes and enhancement of existing processes and has a core of 10 full-time engineers. Current projects include the development of a low noise bipolar process to suit low noise amplifiers and a specific process to address the LDO market
LMCMOS, LMDMOS, LFAST1, LFAST2, Bifet, BiCMOS, Bipolar Linear (dual and single) layer metal and chrome, P2CMOS, CMOS and DMOS, ABCD150, ABCD150XV1, ABCD150XV2, VIP3, VIP3H and VIP3HU
Community Involvement
Our employees at Greenock are active participants in the local community. Many National employees freely contribute their time and effort to local charitable activities, fundraising and volunteering. This is supported through the proactive "Community Care" team.
