WebSIM - Online Power Supply Simulation

WebSIM is an online electrical simulation tool that provides immediate access to accurate performance information of National components via the Internet. WebSIM is a product of Transim Corp., and combines a sophisticated simulation engine with component models based on device information supplied by National Semiconductor. These tools are web enabled with schematic viewers and waveform graphers so that you can have access to high speed sophisticated simulation from any platform having Web access and a browser.

To use WebSIM, first create a power supply design in WEBENCH. Click here to design a Power Supply now. After choosing a part and creating a design, click on "Analyze a Design" in the WEBENCH navigation header. A WebSIM link will appear. Click there to start up WebSIM.

A schematic of your design then appears in your web-browser. Component, supply, and load values can be edited to match the needs of your particular application. From here you can select several types of analyses to run including loop gain, transient, and steady state. Once the simulation is invoked, it typically takes less than a minute for the results to be available for viewing. You can then click on any of the identified nodes to measure voltage and current or in the case of the loop gain measurement request a Bode plot. Examples are shown below of transient response and frequency response simulations done for the LM2678-5.0 5V, 5A step-down switching regulator. You can change the component values in your design and perform simulations until you get the results you want, saving a lot of bench testing time and getting a better quality design much faster.

In summary, WebSIM gives everyone access to the value of on-line electrical performance information through an easy to use Internet based application.
