The LM8000 Reference Designs are available from National, and National distributors.
Summary:
The LM8300 and LM8500 Reference Designs provide a turnkey touchscreen evaluation platform based on the LM8000 Series of Touchscreen Controllers. A PCB interfaces a 4-wire Panasonic EMU601A2 Resistive Touchpanel to a host PC running the touchscreen drivers. Use a stylus to simulate the PC mouse operation.

Description:
The kit contains a Reference Design board with either an LM8300 (3v@3.27MHz) or LM8500 (5v@10MHz) touchscreen controller chip, a 5" x 6.5" (240mm x 320mm) Panasonic EMU601A2 Resistive Touchpanel, a stylus, 9v battery, RS232 cable, and host PC touchscreen driver software.
On the Reference Design board, select the desired external filtering option, then connect the touch panel, the host PC cable (via RS232), and the included 9v battery (or any 7-16v DC external power source), and you have a complete touchscreen evaluation setup. The PCB has additional circuitry and I/O connections to support different touchpanels, and for evaluation and development of additional functionality.
Install and run your choice of National's Himalaya touchscreen driver for Win 2000/XP, or Touch-Base's UPDD (Universal Pointer) touchscreen driver for Win 95/98/ME/2000/XP. Use the driver's control windows to configure the touchscreen parameters (such as Samples; Focus Value; Max Delta; Pressure; etc.), and to perform diagnostics and calibration.

Software Updates:
-
National's Himalaya Touchscreen Driver (53KB .exe) The NSC Himalaya driver is a freeware evaluation driver developed for the LM8300/8500 by National. The driver does not support all the functionalities of the device but, unlike the UPDD driver, does not have the 100 touch limitation.
-
Touch-Base UPDD Touchscreen Driver (3MB .exe) The UPDD driver is a demoware evaluation driver developed for the LM8300/8500 by Touchbase. The evaluation driver supports all functionalities of the device with a 100 touch per calibration limitation. After 100 touches, another calibration must be performed.
