Summary:

The COP8-SKFLASH-01 Starter Kit provides a low cost, easy-to-use environment for quickly starting the development and debugging of COP8FLASH applications.

The COP8-NSDEV development environment allows you to develop and simulate your code, then download (via Flash ISP) to a real-time target board for 10MHz (CKI) and 32KHz (CKI) execution and testing at 5v.

Our NiceMon Debug Monitor can be used with your application code to allow basic code debugging from your PC, or for more advanced, non-intrusive debugging you can easily connect one of our real time COP8FLASH Emulators to a 2x7 connector on the target board.

The following COP8Flash devices are supported:

  • COP8S/8C - 68PLCC and 44PLCC.  Complete code development, simulation, and target execution/debugging for all family devices.
  • COP8A - 28DIP.  Complete code development, simulation, and target execution/debugging for all family devices.

The COP8-SKFLASH-01 is an enhanced version of the COP8-SKFLASH-00:

  • Additional 44PLCC and 28DIP sockets for new device support.
  • Improved 2xVcc circuits for the ISP reset operation.
  • Additional 32KHz crystal oscillator for dual-clock operation.
  • Added breadboard area, with option for seperate Analog and Digital power sources.
  • Added 4 test LEDs.
  • New layout of test points and expansion headers for easier access.
  • Costs a bit more.

Description:

The kit consists of National's COP8 Development CD for Windows, NiceMon Flash Debugger, a COP8Flash real-time, multi-function 5v target board with breadboard area, device samples, and PC cable.

The CD includes WCOP8-IDE, a fully licensed Win 32 development environment for COP8, with Assembler/Linker/Librarian, Simulator, and support for device programmers and National's COP8Flash emulators.  The CD also includes flash ISP and debugger utilities, demos, manuals, datasheets, applications notes with source code, and other technical information.

The COP8 Flash ISP utility and NiceMon Debugger use the PC’s parallel port, and are integrated under the IDE.  NiceMon allows real-time execution with a single breakpoint, then single-step debugging, with code/register viewing and editing.  Connection to the target device is via Microwire/Plus.

The SKFlash-01 realtime target board is configured for 5v operation (<5v is optional) with dual CKI clocks (10MHz and 32KHz), and is powered by any user-supplied 5-25 VDC power supply (or a 9v battery).  The PCB includes sockets for 44 PLCC, 68 PLCC, and 28 DIP COPFlash devices (use only one at a time), an RS232 DB9 connector, and a MICROWIRE/Plus RJ11 connector for ISP.  68PLCC COP8CDR9 and 28DIP COPANE9 samples are included.

A generous breadboard area, 4 LED's, and 68 pin expansion headers allow easy design and debug of  customized applications.  A Flash Emulator 2x7 connector, and a Kanda ISP Tool 2x5 connector are provided for optional realtime emulation and multi-clock ISP support.
