Summary:
The COP8Flash In-Circuit Emulators are universal, real-time emulation solutions for the COP8FLASH families. Each model supports all versions of COP8FLASH devices, and provides an increasing level of functionality: Entry-Level (EM); Mid-Level (DM); and Full-Featured (IM).
All three emulators use a jointly developed (Metalink and National) , innovative emulation system which relies on special emulation circuitry implemented on every COP8FLASH device. Emulation occurs inside the COP8FLASH microcontroller chip while it resides on the target board, allowing 100% precise emulation of all the device's peripherals, including complex Analog functions. Analog signals are no longer affected by the noise, inductance, and capacitance of traditional emulator cables and connectors.
The COP8FLASH emulators can be operated in stand-alone mode for execution/debug of your code (with the included Null Target board), or connected to your own target board for real-time hardware debug. The Debugger Interface is supported by National's Development IDE, Byte Craft's C-Compiler, and IAR's Embedded Workbench. Top of Page
Description:
The COP8Flash emulators are compact, single-board emulator solutions, with a fixed emulation target cable and a tiny 2x7 connector. They are powered by a single 5 VDC power supply, and can be operated in stand-alone mode (using the included 68pin COP8CDR9 Null Target) or connected to your target system via a 2x7 header on your PCB. (Optional PLCC package adapters are available if you do not have a 2x7 header designed onto your target PCB.)
Utilizing a common User Interface for Windows, with integrated HLL/Source/Symbolic Debugger, the COP8FLASH emulators support fully transparent, real-time program execution up to the maximum microcontroller clock speed, with 32K of emulation memory on board, and increasing levels of trace and breakpoints.
-
EM - No Enclosure; No Trace; 16 Software Breaks.
-
DM - Enclosed; 32k Frames Non-Transparent Trace; 32k Software Breaks.
-
IM - Enclosed; 32k Frames Transparent Trace; Adjustable Triggers; 32k Software Breaks; 32k Hardware Breaks.
The User Interface supports HLL or Source / Symbolic Level Debug for:
-
National Semiconductor COP8 Assembler (COFF-format)
-
Byte Craft Ltd. COP8 C compiler (COD format)
-
IAR Systems COP8 C compiler (UBROFF-format).
On-line Help is available, with context sensitive, linked hypertext. Additionally, a PDF-format manual is part of the software. Top of Page
