NOTE: National's emulators are designed and built by Metalink. The boards and documentation refer to Metalink internal part numbers (IceMaster-DM), but the products are sold and supported exclusively by National.
The COP8-EM, and COP8-DM (with OTP/EPROM Programming), are available from National and National distributors for the following COP8 OTP/ROM families:
Summary:
The COP8 EM/DM is a dedicated real-time emulation solution for hardware debugging. The EM and DM are identical in features and operation, but the DM also has on-board OTP/EPROM programming. Each device family has its own EM/DM emulator. Utilizing a common User Interface for Windows, with integrated HLL/Source/Symbolic Debugger, the EM/DM supports real-time program execution up to the maximum microcontroller clock speed, with 32K of emulation memory on board, and 100 frames of trace.
The EM/DM can be operated in stand-alone mode for execution/debug of your code, or connected to a target board for real-time hardware debug. The Windows Debugger Interface is supported by National's NSDEV Integrated Development Environment, Byte Craft's C-Compiler, and IAR's Embedded Workbench. Top of Page
Description:
The COP8-EM COP8-DM are single-board, non-enclosed board units, with interchangeable emulation target cables and package adapters. Each COP8-EM/DM unit has a unique COP8 Bondout Chip, and is dedicated to support a single COP8 OTP/ROM family. The passive target cables and package adapters are universal. The emulator is powered by a single 5 VDC power supply (included), interfaces with a PC over an RS232 interface, and can be operated in a stand-alone mode or connected to a target board.
The EM and DM are identical in operation and features, but the DM also includes on-board OTP/EPROM development programming capability, with on-board 40DIP, 44PLCC, and 28SOIC sockets. The contents of the DM kits also include more emulation cable choices, and necessary programming adapters.
The COP8-EM/DM operates in real-time (0.5 to 15 MHz), and is electrically and operationally transparent during emulation. Clock frequency is user-selectable between the external target crystal/clock, or on-board clock source by a set of jumpers on the PCB. The User Interface supports: Setting of Software Breakpoints; Source Window Displays; Assembly/Disassembly of Code; HLL Structure/Content Display of Modules; Line Number; Scopes; Program Variables; and HLL or Source / Symbolic Level Debug for:
-
National's COP8 Assembler (COFF-format)
-
Byte Craft Ltd. COP8 C compiler (COD format)
-
IAR Systems COP8 C compiler (UBROFF-format)
