Overview:
The DriveCable02EVK is an evaluation kit designed for demonstrating performance of the DS15BA101 and DS15EA101, a cable extender chipset. It is optimized for sending binary data in excess of 1.5 Gbps signaling rates over long copper cables up to 100's of meters. The evaluation kit enables the chipset evaluation with 100-ohm differential cables such as twin-axial and low cost CAT5e/6/7 twisted pair cables and with 50-ohm coaxial cables.

The DriveCable02EVK features high-bandwidth SMA connectors that connect to DS15BA101 and DS15EA101 high-speed I/O pins. When using the DriveCable02EVK for evaluation with various cable assemblies, it is recommended to obtain/develop a connector adapter that would enable good signal path transition from the SMA connectors to connectors compatible with your cable assembly of choice. National Semiconductor currently offers an RJ45 to SMA adapter board, SMA2RJ45EVK, which enables evaluation with twisted pair cables.
