Isolated High-Voltage PWM Power Supplies and MOSFET Drivers Featuring the LM5xxx Family

Isolated power supplies are widely used in automotive and telecom applications to handle wide step down and step up ratios and to reliably and safely provide positive regulated voltages from a negative bus.

National Semiconductor offers a wide selection of power-conversion topologies to support your various power requirements. Whether you are looking for forward or flyback converters for easy low power conversion, forward converters for flexible conversion in applications up to 300W or push-pull, half or full bridge converters to support high power off-line and distributed power bus applications, National Semiconductor has you covered.

National also has a broad range of low-side and high-side MOSFET (FET) drivers that have been integrated within controller ICs and implemented as dedicated ICs, enabling optimized system solutions for a wide variety of topologies and power levels. Partitioning the gate-drive function outside the PWM controller allows the controller to run cooler and be more stable by eliminating the high peak currents and heat dissipation needed to drive a power MOSFET at very high frequencies. National’s MOSFETs support wide input voltage ranges, adaptive transition timing, UVLO, and powerful gate drive current levels.
