Freescale Semiconductor's 32-bit ColdFire processors have become a vital part of many applications throughout the communications, industrial, test and measurement and medical markets. The trend towards increased 32-bit embedded RISC performance is a wide variety of end applications has also accelerated the development of multiple ColdFire product derivatives each with its own unique mix of on-chip features. However, with embedded systems now requiring multiple supply voltages (1.6V, 3.6V & 5V) and, at the same time, the on-chip features continue to push up the gate count coupled with higher clock speed's, it is no surprise to see increased demands on the power supply requirements. National offers on-line and off-line tools to support Freescale ColdFire processor power supply designs based on National's switching regulators and LDO voltage regulators.
