Mobile I/O Companions
Overview
Mobile I/O Companion devices are peripherals developed to expand host processor functionality while reducing system power consumption
- Programmable functions offered:
- General Purpose I/Os
- Keyboard Scanning and Event storage
- Complex sequence of PWM duty cycle generation
- Use extremely low power in operational and standby modes
- Communicate to host via I2C compatible ACCESS.bus interface
- Offered in ultra low profile micro-Array and LLP packages
Key Benefits
- Saving host valuable processing power by offloading keyscan and PWM programming functions
- Enabling Host to enter low power stand by mode, while Mobile I/O intercepts external events
- Expanding Host processor functionality with additional General Purpose I/Os, Complex PWMs, Key-scan
- Enabling modular System design since Mobile I/O Companion routines and circuitry layout can be reused
- Increasing application board layout flexibility by enabling more options for placement of a host device
- The host processor requires significantly less pins. It can refer to standard functions via only two/three connections (pins)
