  • Bay Area Best Workplaces for Commuters, a US EPA and Northern California Chapter of the Association for Commuter Transportation program, has recognized National since 2003 for the Commute Alternative Program (CAPS). CAPS encourages the use of sustainable modes of transportation by offering benefits, such as reserved preferred parking for carpooling, guaranteed ride home, pre-tax purchase of transit passes, secure bicycle racks, lockers and showers, and shuttles to and from transit stations.
  • Spare the Air Campaign is a Bay Air Quality Management District program to promote clean air and a healthy environment. National’s voluntary participation has been recognized for over 10 years.
  • National participates in Silicon Valley Power's (SVP) clean renewable energy program, Santa Clara Green Power. Derived from clean wind and solar generation sources, National's renewable power commitment procures 1,608 megawatt-hours annually for the Santa Clara campus. National's clean power commitment will provide environmental savings through preventing the release of 641 tons of carbon dioxide, a key greenhouse gas. This is the climate impact equivalent to planting 534 acres of forest. "We are thrilled to have National Semiconductor make such a big commitment to Santa Clara Green Power," said Joyce Kinnear, public benefit program manager for SVP. "It's a demonstration of National’s commitment to the community and a great display of environmental ethics." Press Release
