National Semiconductor has clinics staffed by occupational health professionals, ERT members trained in first-aid and ready access to local hospitals, clinics and emergency medical services, in case of a workplace medical emergency. We created a Pandemic Plan and Pandemic Team in response to the possibility of bird flu or other pandemic. Employees can get current information about the prevention of flu and other contagious illnesses from our Health and Hygiene webpage.
Our employees' health away from work is also very important to us. In addition to employees' medical benefits, National makes a broad range of health and wellness information and services available such as smoking cessation, weight control, diabetes management, nutrition, vaccinations, exercise and walking programs and personal hygiene. We have on-site fitness centers or provide stipends for health club memberships. With medical insurance provider Aetna, we offer the "Live Well" Wellness Program in the US. This program provides employees with a personal health risk assessment, participation in wellness programs to reduce identified risks, and rewards for participation. Events such as the "Health & Wellness Fair" and "Dare to Care Fair" raise employee awareness about local NGOs, EHS service providers and regulatory agencies. Over 60 organizations participated in the Santa Clara's 2006 "Dare to Care Fair."
