National Foundation Donates $120,000 for 10 Dialysis Machines in Melaka

June 21, 2003- The National Semiconductor Foundation has donated $119,000 (RM 452,200) to the haemodialysis center of St. John Bachang, Melaka, for the purchase of 10 haemodialysis machines.

St. John Bachang haemodialysis center is the first charity organization in Melaka to receive a Foundation donation. The National Semiconductor Foundation was established in August 2000 as a charitable fund with the Community Foundation of Silicon Valley, a nonprofit organization specializing in philanthropy and charitable giving.

The Executive Chairman of St. John Bachang haemodialysis center, Datuk Wong Soon Lim, said National's donation for the well-being of Melaka residents reflects a caring society and sets a good example. He pointed out that the haemodialysis center has been operating with the help and support of public donations, including local business organizations.

There are four haemodialysis machines in operation at the center, while another six on order. To date, the center has 104 patients.

Representatives from National Semiconductor Sdn Bhd making the donation included Liu Chue Siak, Vice Preisdent of Melaka Operations, Abd Mubin, KW Khor, Ken Ho, and Doreen Lee.

St. John Bachang representatives included Mr Tey, Chairman of St. John Bachang, Datuk Wong Soon Lim, Executive Chairman; Chan Swee Huat, Vice Chairman; Gan Seng Chong, Dr. Tang Kam Yuen, Depurty Chairman; and their legal advisor, Pok Yong Chan.
