Manufacturing

Often referred to as the "Venice of China", Suzhou is situated in the middle of the Yangtze Delta. The more than 2500 year-old city is located at the edge of a subtropical zone, and enjoys a climate that is mild and humid, with plenty of sunshine. The climate is very helpful to the many beautiful gardens for which Suzhou is known, such as Master of Nets, Wave Pavilion, and the Humble Administrator's Garden, considered a representation of the peak of Chinese garden design.

The city of Suzhou is a major tourist city with a well-developed economy and much business with the outside world. Yet, cultural heritage remains the main attraction in Suzhou, one of China's top four tourist towns. With ample evidence, the city still supports the 1,000 year old saying: "In heaven there is paradise, down on earth there are Suzhou and Hang Zhou." Known as the home of silk, and famous for its embroidery, Suzhou also includes attractions like the water-town of Tongli, which showcases numerous beautiful bridges and traditional Chinese life.

Given demand for modernization, and to preserve the Old City, the Chinese State Council recently instituted the Suzhou New Development. That is a high tech industrial zone on the west side, which is thriving with collaborative investment from Singapore.

National's manufacturing facility in Suzhou is located in this new industrial zone, and occupies 146,000 square meters of the Suzhou Industrial Park. Three buildings house manufacturing, office and utility operations, and consist of 51,800 square meters of total floor space. Plant construction started at the end of November 2002 and was completed in March 2004. Production started in May 2004 using state-of-the-art equipment and processes. Manufacturing capabilities encompass wafer back metal and grind, wafer sort, assembly and final test.
