Amplifier Product SelGuide Software for Windows

Introduction:
Selguide is a software tool designed to guide the user in selecting our Operational Amplifier, Buffer and Comparator products by enabling the user to enter in a few key parameters and have a list of devices meeting those parameters returned to them.

Included in the results is a summary table of key device parameters and pricing information, as well as a link back to view our Web site product folders for the chosen devices (You must have a Web browser and a live Internet connection to view the web pages).

Installation of the Selguide software is simple and painless. Selguide does not add to or modify your system files at all and is completely self contained within one folder. Selguide fits nicely in a corner of your Desktop or Laptop PC for easy future reference.

Program Installation Instructions

  

Database Updates

System Requirements

  • 32-bit MS Windows platform (Win95/98 WinNT3/4/2K).
  • 32 MB RAM - 64MB recommended.
  • 3 MB disk space on your "C:" drive.
  • 100 MHz processor - the faster the better! We're not kidding!
  • 600 x 800 screen resolution (1024 x 768 or better recommended).
  • Optional: Web browser w/Internet connection to view on-line datasheets

Download Instructions:

  1. Download the 980K self-extracting Selguide.exe file into a temporary directory, your desktop, or onto a floppy.
  2. After downloading, run Selguide.exe.
  3. The self-extractor will prompt you for a location to install Selguide.*
  4. After the install is complete you may delete the contents of the temporary directory. Additional information about installation and system requirements is contained in the FAQ page or readme.txt file, which is included in Selguide.exe.
  5. When the currently loaded database is more than 30 days old, a reminder window will appear at startup reminding you to update the database with the latest database files available on this page.

* Note: It is *highly* recommended that you use the default installation directory of "C:/Selguide". An icon will be then placed on your desktop. If you wish to use a directory other than the default, that is fine, but an icon will not be placed on your desktop.

 

  

The Selguide database was designed to be easily updated to keep up with new product introductions, obsoleted devices and price changes.

Both the database update files, and the database contained in the program installation Latestdata.exe file, are updated weekly (usually by Tuesday evening) and made available here.

Note: You do not need to download the database update file if you downloaded the Selguide.exe program installation file within the last week.

Update Instructions:

  1. The Database update process is similar to the original program installation, but only updates the database files located in the /Data directory.
  2. After downloading, click on Latestdata.exe. The self-extractor will prompt you for where the Selguide data directory is located. It is recommended that you use the default installation directory "C:/Selguide/data".
  3. After the install is complete you may delete the Latestdata.exe file that you originally downloaded.

Be sure to download these update files prior to using Selguide, if your files are older than a month. The creation date of your database is located in the Selguide "Help -> About" menu.

After downloading and installing Selguide, please refer to the Instructions and Tips page for information on how to use Selguide. If you have any questions or problems, first visit the Selguide FAQ page. If your questions are still unanswered, please contact Selguide Support.

  

Removing Selguide is simple. Since Selguide does not add, modify or change any files on your system - all that is required is to simply delete the entire Selguide folder and the desktop icon. Doing so will completely remove Selguide from your system.
