National's power solutions: Complete power design resources for Altera FPGAs and CPLDs
Working in close collaboration with Altera, National has developed a comprehensive set of design tools and guides for design engineers who are utilizing Altera's latest FPGAs and CPLDs. National offers the Power-Expert software tool, power design guide, reference designs, and application notes to to help them easily select and implement the best power management solutions for their designs. National also offers leading-edge interface signal conditioners (e.g. equalizers), SerDes, Ethernet PHYs, and reclockers as well as precision clock jitter cleaners complement your FPGA or CPLD.
National Semiconductor in collaboration with Arrow Electronics and Altera developed a complete FPGA-based motor control platform with industrial communication interfaces.
* FireFighter main board: FPGA and communications board
* FireDriver module: Motor drive power module
A total of six galvanically isolated FireDriver plug-in power modules can be connected to the FireFighter logic platform to provide 24 phases or support for up to 12 motors. These generic 4-phase drivers provide up to 10A per phase at a DC bus voltage of 50VDC, have a 12A input current protection and are available with protected and filtered encoder and/or Hall Effect sensor inputs. Back EMF sensing on three phases facilitates the implementation of sensor-less drives, while synchronized ADC sampling is possible on all phases within the same PWM cycle.
National Semiconductor in collaboration with Altera has developed a triple-rate SDI and video clocking daughter card for the Altera Cyclone 3 development kit. The combined solution provides broadcast video system designers a comprehensive platform for rapid evaluation and prototyping of new designs to reduce time to market. This integrated platform includes hardware boards, FPGA firmware and management software
National’s daughter card, SDALTEVK, includes synthesizable FPGA source code available in both Verilog and VHDL to maximize flexibility and facilitate IP customization. The daughter card, available as an option, plugs directly into the Altera Cyclone 3 development board via Altera’s high-speed mezzanine connector (HSMC).
National's SolarMagic™ technology recoup up to 71 percent of the power lost, dramatically improving the economics in shaded and other real-world conditions.
