System Requirements
Operating System: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP.
Additional Requirement: Sun Microsystems® Java® Runtime Environment version 1.4.2_03 to 1.5.0_11 only. If you do not have one of these versions installed, you should download the JRE and install it before installing the WaveVision 4 software. WaveVision 4 should not be used with Java version 1.6.0_01 or later. In order for WaveVision 4 to install, Java version 1.6.0_01 or later must be uninstalled using Add/Remove Programs through the Control Panel on your PC. If Java version 1.6.0_01 or later is installed after WaveVision 4 is installed, then WaveVision 4 will continue to work properly with the older Java version with which it was installed.
Software Installation
Current Version: 4.4.1
Software Download: WaveVision 4.4.1 software
The WaveVision 4.4.1 software is National Semiconductor's platform for evaluating our ADC and DAC evaluation boards. The software is used with the WaveVision Data Capture Board.
If you have installed a previous version of the software, you may be prompted to remove it. This will not remove your previous settings or log files.
User's Manual: WaveVision 4 User's Guide contains detailed installation and usage instructions. Additional user information can be found in the help menu of the Software.
Hardware
The Data Capture Board Version 4.4 allows the user to evaluate the latest ADC and DAC products quickly and easily. It connects to a host PC via a USB cable, and is fully configured and controlled by the latest WaveVision 4 software.
Additional Considerations
NOTE 1: This release supports National Semiconductor's latest ADC and DAC evaluation boards which use the WaveVision 4 Future Bus Connector (See the supported A/D Converter and D/A Converter device list). This release does NOT support the use of the WaveVision 3 connector on the WaveVision 4 board. Older ADC boards which use this connector should be connected to the WaveVision 3 Capture Board which the WaveVision software does support. The WaveVision 4 Software also supports the Fort Collins Capture Board (CLC-CAPT-PCASM). Please refer to the Evaluation Board Tables for the documentation of our ADC and DAC evaluation boards.
NOTE 2:
- Very Small data sizes (<32 samples) may cause the software to malfunction
- Analyzing a very small number of waveform cycles may result in the incorrect calculation of SINAD, SNR, THD, SFDR, and ENOB.
Thank for your interest in National's analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters! If you have comments or questions about the WaveVision 4 system, please contact us.
Online Seminar
Simplifying A/D Converter Evaluation
Overview: This seminar discusses the WaveVision system and what it can do for the user, some common problems when performing an FFT and evaluating the results, as well as addressing apparent performance issues when doing those evaluations. A brief look at some of our ADCs is also provided.
