Half-Bridge Power Converter Design Using the LM5035

Overview: The architecture of a Half-Bridge Power Converter is discussed and related to a National Semiconductor Reference Design for a 48 Volt to 3.3 Volt, 30 Amp Quarter Brick Module. The first section discusses the power flow through the transformer and various parasitic aspects of the transformer. The second section goes into the Type 3 compensation design for Loop Stability. The final section highlights the features of the LM5035 Half-Bridge controller and driver, along with its evaluation board and other applicable topologies for the LM5035.
