Overview: This seminar gives an overview
of switching power supply topologies for use in a variety of dc-dc and ac-dc
applications where the voltage of the primary power source is greater than
30V. For each topology presented, the main areas of its application are
described, as are its advantages and disadvantages relative to other topologies.
Also for each topology, power management integrated circuits from National
that can be used to simplify its implementation are given.
Length: 120 minutes
Published Date: September 2004
Topics covered in this online seminar include:
- Applications of switching power supplies
- Requirements of high voltage power management I.C.s
- Non-isolated high voltage topologies and power management I.C.s
- Isolated high voltage topologies and power management I.C.s
- Push-pull and bridge converter comparison
Presenter: L. Haachitaba Mweene
received the Masters and PhD degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in Cambridge, MA, in 1988 and 1992. He is widely experienced
in the analysis and design of low and high power ac-dc and dc-dc converters.
He is currently a Principal Power Applications Engineer at National's Power
Applications Design Center (PADC) in Richardson TX. |
