Overview: This seminar is an introduction
to the HDTV signal processing environment and transmission system. The baseband
serial HDTV system illustrates the tasks involved. National's products which
support these systems are described together with design guidelines for
the use of these products. The presentation begins with a brief introduction
to the development of HDTV picture formats. It then proceeds to detail National's
signal processing devices which perform parallel-to-serial data conversion
and encoding, Serial Digital Video data transmission, signal recovery and
equalization, signal routing and serial-to-parallel conversion and decoding.
Devices and system issues are discussed with a focus on best-design practices
to be observed when designing for such systems. Design checklists, design
aids and application support resources are also covered.
